Olympic Park - East Bank development
Plans launched today for the East Bank development in the OP..... this will mean massive development over next 3 years on the green area near the Orbit ! .... be lucky if any park left by the end of it.... let’s hope they build in some local pubs!

Get some ugly tower blocks and shit chicken shops in there, to make it feel more West Ham.

I and a alley that’s smelt of poo, get that back.

Thames only floods from the sea. That's why the barrier is where it is.

If the Lea floods (heavy rain) you just open the sluice gates into the tidal lea.

More rabbit hutch flats with a Tesco Express on each corner, Sadiq's affordable housing

Of course they can open the gates - nowhere for the water to go though as the Thames is also likely to be in full flood, and, if anything, opening the gates will simply allow the water there to back up.

Could you tell me the way to Sadlers Wells?

I can’t believe anyone uses that patch of ground where the away coaches stop for anything other than for somewhere for their dogs to shit.

i think the properties will be somewhat more expensive on the OS land than Upton Gardens was/is!

zero flood risk in Stratford. If it gets a bit toppy all they'd have to do is open the gates further down the river in Bow.

I'm sure the River Lea will flush the area out every now and again.

What? Rivers flood? Onto their floodplain? A floodplain that we're building loads of shit on?

Never!

We've got science these days, don't you know...

I'm not having it that the V&A will make the place worse, especially if the Smithsonian are getting involved.

I only wish they'd fire a proton fucker-upper from the roof onto Reliance Square at random intervals. Incinerate all the God-botherers and hoodrats that make it the worst hot-spot for crime in the whole of the UK.

I'd like to think someone from the Smithsonian could do the decent thing and make that a literal hot-spot.

the wide open spaces south of the orbit are where UCL is going.

The park will mainly be the stuff around the waterside. Mostly everything else is development land, and has always been planned as that.

I think a fair few people/families use the green spaces in the park on the weekends so it would be a shame if it all went. I suppose there's no money to be made from undeveloped land whereas millions and millions if they put flats there.

90% of the housing will probably only be affordable to people earning 100k + per year with a fat deposit to boot. Not that most people care or like it, but the stadium isn't going to be the centrepiece of the park any more with a load of high rises overlooking it- if there even is still a park.

"Fashion campus and a Sadler’s Wells theatre and dance school, specialising in hip-hop". Fucking tossers.

No mention of pubs, social clubs or any kind of hub for community cohesion. Just boastful bollox about Sadlers Wells and the Smithsonian blah, blah.

It'll only make the whole surrounds of the toilet bowl even more sanitised and ultimately worsen the match day experience.

What a shit-hole.

It WAS the place to be, it will soon all be wanky flats & chain restaurants, fuck that!
